Christian Formation
Keeping the faith active and informed is important to the spiritual life of the parish. Continuing religious education programs are offered throughout the year. Announcement of special sessions and opportunities are published in the parish bulletin.
- Bread of Life Eucharistic Adoration Program
- Holy Family has been blessed with a Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel since 1998. Located in the Parish Center, it is a thriving and integral part of our community. Many parish organizations cover periods of adoration, and numerous individuals have signed up for a specific hour each week. The chapel is open every day for scheduled and unscheduled visits. For more information, call Joel and Julie Gray, or contact the parish office for additional information.
- Family Formation
- Family Formation, currently in its third year at Holy Family, is an innovative religious education program for children from preschool through sixth grade. Based on the principle that "Parents are the primary educators in the faith," the program revolves around a weekly family gathering and home lesson as well as a monthly gathering at the parish. Following the three–year liturgical cycle, the program is driven by Scripture and references the Catechism of the Catholic Church. For more information, contact the Director of Religious Education, Nikki Arendell at 688–3427, ext. 225, or holyfamilydre@hotmail.com.
- Great Adventure Bible Study Series
- This course responds to the desire to explore the Scriptures. This program developed by Jeff Cavins is a unique approach that includes an array of materials. For more information, contact the Director of Religious Education, Nikki Arendell at 688–3427, ext. 225, or holyfamilydre@hotmail.com.
- Holy Family MI Village
- The MI (Militia of the Immaculata) is a worldwide evangelization movement founded by Saint Maximilian Kolbe. Gatherings consist of rosary, study, and discussion on the second Saturday of each month. For information, call Joel Gray, or contact the parish office for additional information.
- Prayer Circle
- The Prayer Circle is a group of parishioners praying for the various needs of the parish and the community. Parishioners are invited to call the coordinator with a prayer intention. The coordinator will then disseminate that prayer request to other members of the group. They all individually offer prayers for the intention. If you have a prayer request, please call Mary Kaufman, or contact the parish office for additional information.
- RCIA/RCIC
- Through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), the Catholic Church shares the Faith with new members. RCIA is the normal process by which adults, regardless of their background, enter and join the Catholic Church. RCIA meets each week on Tuesday evening beginning in September; Sacraments of Initiation are celebrated at the Easter Vigil. Please note that coming to the sessions does not obligate an individual to join the Church at Easter. For more information or to register, call Fr. Alejandro López at 688-3427, ext. 203. There is a parallel program (RCIC) that is offered for children.
- READY
- Religious Education and Development of Youth (READY) is offered for children not enrolled in the parish school. Seventh and eighth graders prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation through a program that parallels that which is offered as part of the school curriculum. For more information, contact Nikki Arendell at 688-3427, ext. 225, or holyfamilydre@hotmail.com.
- Vacation Bible School
- Assists in the management of temporal affairVacation Bible School, typically held during the last full week of June, is open to children ages four through twelve. Participants enjoy a week of fun that includes music and dancing, skits, crafts, outdoor games, and snacks, all of which revolve around a particular theme that supports the Bible stories taught each day. This week-long event offers numerous volunteer opportunities for older students and adults. Information about VBS programs and volunteer opportunities are published in the bulletin each May.
- Other Religious Education Opportunities
- Other opportunities for spiritual reflection and growth are offered at various times throughout the year. In December 2006, the parish hosted internationally–known speaker and author Matthew Kelly, who challenges individuals to become the best version of themselves by living their lives and faith to the fullest. In December of 2007, we welcomed the highly acclaimed actor Frank Runyeon. Through his one–man plays, Runyeon helps his audiences to rediscover the power of Scripture.
