Who We Are

*More than 50 years of academic excellence

“Teach our children well…”

Our tradition of excellence at Holy Family School dates back more than 50 years.  The school was the first structure of the parish.   It is still the foundation of the Holy Family church community today; molding and educating the leaders of tomorrow.

When HFS first opened it had just six classrooms, the office and the gym.  We’ve grown a lot since then.  Holy Family Crusaders are now kids ages pre-school through 8th grade.  Our school offers state-of-the-art science and computer labs, a reading lab, music room and so much more!  Of course our greatest strengths are our people.  The teachers, staff, students and parents are truly a family.  That’s why so many of our graduates go on to achieve great things.  They are doctors, lawyers, musicians, teachers, journalists, scientists, business owners and even priests!  Many choose to send their own children to HFS, creating a new generation of Crusaders.

*Christ-centered character development

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

At the center of everything our children do at Holy Family School is our faith in Jesus Christ.  We develop life-long learners who practice the Catholic faith by praying daily, demonstrating respect and serving others.  Our students attend weekly mass, study and prepare for the sacraments of reconciliation, first communion and confirmation and enjoy opportunities for volunteer service in the community.  A really fun way Holy Family kids learn about serving others is through Fiesta Days.  It’s celebrated each year during Mardi Gras and raises money for our Mission in Mexico.  Games, food and prizes provide fun for all grade levels.

*Pre-school through Grade 8

Holy Family School expanded its academic program to include early childhood development in 2003.  Pre-K through 2nd graders are in one wing of the school, 3rd through 6th in another and  7th and 8th graders in another wing.  HFS offers many opportunities for its older students to mentor to younger students.  They lead by example as reading, math and science buddies.

*Culturally diverse community of learners

Just like our great nation, Holy Family School is a melting pot of young people.  Our students come from all walks of life.  Some are even first-generation Americans. This diversity benefits us all.  Our teachers integrate culture and issues of diversity in the classroom.

Emphasis on performing arts

The National Association of State Boards of Education noted in 2003 that a substantial body of research highlights the benefits of arts in curriculum and called for stronger emphasis on the arts.  Holy Family School has emphasized the arts for decades.

Our music program includes weekly instruction for all grade levels under the instruction of Mrs. Pemberton.  Students also have the opportunity to participate in band and orchestra.  After school piano lessons are available, as well.

The HFS dance program kicked off in the early 1990’s.  Students experience the joy of dance through ballet, tap, jazz and tumbling. It’s part of the PE curriculum.  The student body even presents a recital each spring.

Holy Family Students can also participate in drama club, declamations and after-school art lessons.  Volunteers also come into the classroom periodically to display and discuss famous works of art.  They talk to the children about the paintings and the artists who created them.

The arts can bring every subject to life and turn abstractions into concrete reality.  Learning through the arts often results in greater academic achievement and higher test scores.
